The Opportunity
Monash Animal Research Platform (MARP) is seeking to appoint an experienced Technical Officer who will support the daily operation of the areas within MARP.
This position will be responsible for the provision of an efficient service to researchers, ensuring the supply of quality animals and associated high-level/specialised services, as well as actively participating in and supporting research projects to ensure their specific needs are met. You will also supervise Animal Technologists, Animal Technicians, Animal Attendants and casual/work placement students. As such, you will possess excellent communication and strong time management and organisation skills.
Ideally, we are seeking someone with a completed Diploma of Applied Science (Animal Technology) with relevant work experience in a laboratory animal facility environment, or an equivalent combination of relevant knowledge, training and/or experience in an animal facility environment. Sound knowledge and extensive practical experience with laboratory animal breeding systems and prior practical experience in laboratory animal husbandry systems are essential for your success in this role.
