  • Commencement Salary: $64,166 per annum (plus superannuation up to 17% superannuation)

About the Role

This position is responsible for the day to day operations and the provision of technical support to teaching and research within the Allied Health and Human Performance Academic Unit.

One of seven Academic Units, UniSA Allied Health and Human Performance offers a wide range of degrees and conducts research in the fields of physiotherapy, occupational therapy, podiatry, medical radiation sciences, medical sonography, speech pathology, clinical exercise physiology, exercise and nutrition, health sciences, public health, exercise and sport science, and human movement.

Core Responsibilities

  • Provide specialist technical support and advice of a more complex nature
  • Analyse specialised and complex technical information and provide advice on design, manufacture and testing of equipment or procedures for staff and student research activities
  • Maintain laboratories in a safe, operational condition by conducting regular monitoring, calibration and repair of equipment
  • Follow prescribed class plans to independently set up equipment and materials for laboratory practicals and provide supervision, advice and support to undergraduate and postgraduate students
  • Contribute to the Academic Unit’s timetabling process, ensuring workspaces and resources are effectively allocated between the teaching and research areas
  • Liaise with academic staff and researchers in order to facilitate the design, development and production of custom-made equipment and teaching resources

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Demonstrated technical experience in relevant laboratory techniques, equipment and procedures with the ability to demonstrate and train others in the use of equipment and procedures
  • Ability to demonstrate knowledge in the provision of safe working environments within laboratory Occupational Health and Safety guidelines
  • Experience in the demonstration of complex procedures to students in a laboratory and/or university environment
  • Proficiency with information systems including Microsoft Office
  • A Diploma level qualification in an allied health related discipline with subsequent work experience within a teaching setting or the health, sport and fitness industry, or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training
