  • Commencement Salary: $70,476 per annum (plus 17% superannuation)


About the Role

Reporting to the Team Leader: Technical Services, you will provide technical support for activities within the Academic Unit’s teaching and research environments. This is a hands-on teaching position, and your focus will be to apply theoretical knowledge and practical techniques to a range of procedures and tasks, including providing advice and assistance to staff and students in preparing studio and workshop activities, instructing in the use of equipment, and facilitating a strong engagement in experiential learning. You will also be responsible for ensuring that facilities and equipment are used in accordance with good OHSW practices.

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Post-secondary qualifications in a relevant discipline or demonstrated equivalent skills, knowledge and experience
  • As this is a hands-on teaching position, you will require knowledge of woodwork, metalwork, welding and advanced manufacturing and relevant plant and equipment used within that skillset
  • Demonstrated experience and expertise in working with technical (science, technology, engineering, mathematics), and/or arts and/or Physical Education equipment
  • Highly developed organisational skills to manage multiple priorities and projects within tight timelines whilst working independently and as a member of a team
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety requirements in providing a safe working environment in the technical areas of the School of Education
  • Proven experience in maintaining technical and industry knowledge
