About the Role

Under general direction, the Technical Officer is responsible for the maintenance and day-to-day working of the Rheumatology Research Laboratory and Biobank; with duties including data entry, appropriately processing and banking biospecimens in line with current protocols. The desired candidate will also be involved in assisting and liaising with Laboratory staff, researchers, medical staff and postgraduate students regarding research and teaching activities including demonstrating the use of specialised equipment and current protocols.

About You

To be successful to the role of Technical Officer, you will demonstrate:

  • Completion of a tertiary qualification in a Medical Laboratory Science or Applied Science focussed area with subsequent relevant work experience and/or an equivalent combination of experience and/or education and/or training

  • Demonstrated knowledge of processing and sectioning paraffin-embedded and frozen-embedded tissue

  • Demonstrated experience in immunohistochemical techniques

  • Demonstrated ability to use initiative in problem solving and work both independently and effectively as part of a team

  • Current Class C Australian Divers Licence
