  • Located on the Camperdown Campus at the Camden and the Bringelly Farm complex

  • Base Salary $99K - $107K (HEO6) + 17% superannuation

About the opportunity

The Faculty of Science is seeking a Technical Officer, Farms to support the fodder operations of the Farm sites at Camden and the Bringelly Farm complex. This role will also be responsible for the compost program across the Camden sites utilising waste from our animal operations and providing a fertilizer resource for the fodder crop program.

Your key responsibilities will be to manage the day-to-day farm fodder operations and provide farm services to teaching and research projects as directed.

  • awareness or willingness to learn about biosecurity, and manual handling

  • knowledge of fodder farming practices and ability to develop, implement farm plans, operation of irrigation systems and ability to implement water-use efficient irrigation schedules

  • knowledge of operation of waste management systems and ability to implement composting program

  • ability and willingness to interact with wider farming community

  • experience operating modern farm machinery including precision agriculture and fodder production equipment

  • sound working knowledge and acute awareness of safety regulations and operating procedures within the Farm environment including experience in working with hazardous substances with well-rounded experience in implementing safety procedures relevant to the farm operations

  • the ability to work both independently and as part of a team, taking initiative and exercising sound judgement in resolving matters that may arise as part of normal daily work

  • a Working with Children Check, NSW Drivers License and Current Chemcert will all be required to be successful.
