About the opportunity
Based in the Charles Perkins Centre (CPC) at the University of Sydney, this exciting role coordinates the daily operations for the student teaching laboratories. This includes demonstrations/practical classes being run in the laboratory and experiments being undertaken in these labs, ensuring the labs are properly maintained and functioning effectively.
Your key responsibilities will be to:
- provide expert technical support and assistance to academics, students and other staff in the labs
- purchase and receive lab consumables
- managing inventory and supplies for the relevant practical classes
- train staff, visitors and students in the safe operation of lab equipment
- ensure all the relevant Work, Health and Safety (WHS) standards are met and labs are compliant
- maintain the laboratory workplace to ensure learning requirements are met effectively
- prepare documentation and reports, including training and reporting, for the work area
About you
- preferred background or experience in chemistry, pharmacology or pharmacy
- working experience with laboratory equipment
- relevant degree in life sciences, or equivalent combination of training and experience
- motivated self-starter who can take initiative
- outstanding communication skills to deliver support to a variety of audiences
- excellent organization and administrative skills
