What you'll do

Reporting to the Senior Coordinating Technical Officer, you will apply your knowledge and experience in agricultural technology and laboratory operations to provide:

  • professional technical support for the conduct of practical classes, including set-up, maintenance and provision of teaching and learning spaces in both the agricultural and civil engineering areas.
  • demonstrations on the efficient use of equipment and materials, techniques and procedures of specialist equipment, software and online services to staff and students (this would include tractors, side-by-side atv, quad bike, farm implements and drones; and the management/maintenance of field experiments involving planting, fertilising, spraying of agricultural chemicals, irrigation, harvesting, etc).
  • analysis of technical information and data, whilst participating in the development of existing and new practical experiments, and supporting academic research activities as directed.

What will help you succeed

Key to your success in this role will be your demonstrated technical experience in relevant laboratory techniques, equipment and procedures.  You will be an enthusiastic and motivated individual who thrives on working with a positive team of professionals. Additionally, you will have:

  • a Diploma or Degree level qualification in a related discipline with subsequent relevant work experience (or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training).
  • demonstrated hands-on experience and knowledge of relevant agricultural field equipment.
  • demonstrated ability to interpret, promote, apply and maintain apply workplace health and safety principles, standards and practices.
  • an ability to contribute to the continuous service delivery improvement through the ongoing implementation and review of processes.

Additionally, hands on experience with environmental testing, civil, structural and material testing equipment, soil and geo-mechanic testing, and hydraulic laboratory equipment would be viewed favourably.

Salary:  Total remuneration range $88,559 to $100,438 pa (includes salary range of $74,828 to $84,865 pa, employer super contributions of 17% and annual leave loading)
