Overview
The School of Engineering offers undergraduate and postgraduate courses in a broad range of engineering disciplines, and has a strong research profile and track record. In alignment with the University’s vision to be recognised for our world ready graduates and leading-edge research, the School is continually expanding its teaching and research infrastructure and facilities. With three custom-designed engineering buildings on the Joondalup Campus constructed over the last few years, the School enjoys some of the best equipped laboratory and workshop infrastructure of its kind for its teaching and research programs.

We are seeking a highly skilled Technical Manager to lead a team of technical staff to provide exceptional technical support to our teaching and research facilities, students and staff.

The position plays a critical role in the provision of specialist research support, as well as the ongoing planning and development of technical capabilities for the School’s research and teaching programs. The role has a strong focus on Occupational Safety and Health requirements and compliance, taking a strategic role in the management of risk.

Selection Criteria
The successful candidate will have:

  • A bachelor’s degree in engineering, preferably in electrical or mechanical engineering;
  • Experience in engineering design and development;
  • Experience in project management;
  • Significant management experience in a comparable engineering environment;
  • Substantial experience with risk assessment and risk management as would be relevant to ECU’s multidisciplinary engineering laboratories and workshops;
  • Proven ability to empower staff and lead a high performing team through good leadership, mentoring and professional development;
  • Ability to effectively communicate with internal and external stakeholders, including staff, students, and industry bodies.
