  • Full-time, continuing position
  • Commencement Salary: $56,010 per annum (plus up to 17% superannuation)

About the Role

This position is responsible for providing technical assistance to support and facilitate the day-to-day operations of a microbiology laboratory in UniSA Clinical and Health Sciences.

Core Responsibilities

  • Follow procedures to prepare media and reagents/solutions in support of undergraduate teaching and research activities
  • Ensure laboratory equipment is safe and operational
  • Follow prescribed class plans to ensure appropriate and adequate equipment and materials are set up for student practicals
  • Demonstrate the correct and safe use of basic laboratory equipment
  • Safely dispose of all biohazard, chemical and microbiological materials

Skills and Experience


  • Post-secondary qualifications in a relevant field or previous experience in a microbiology laboratory
  • Relevant knowledge in the operation and monitoring of a range of laboratory equipment
  • Experience in the application of OHSW&IM guidelines in a laboratory
  • High level interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Organisational and time management skills to plan and prioritise tasks.

  • Ability to provide technical assistance in other disciplines, e.g. biochemistry, biotechnology, histopathology, haematology, biology and chemistry
