About This Opportunity 

The Team Leader, Clinical Unit Administration and Engagement is a senior member of the Greater Brisbane Clinical School team with responsibility for the day-to-day operations of the South Learning Community. This includes overseeing the operational and administrative support services for the Doctor of Medicine (MD) program. This role will develop and lead a high performing team and foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.

This role will primarily be based at the South Learning Community (PA-Hospital, with some travel to QEII Hospital and Redland Hospital) and reports to the Senior Manager, Greater Brisbane Clinical School.

Key responsibilities will include: 

  • Lead, develop and motivate the administrative and operational team in providing high level, accurate and timely support services for both staff and students.

  • Oversee the administrative support required to implement various learning experiences and student assessments, clinical placements, and workshops.

  • Advising academic and professional staff on university policies, ensure compliance and consistent implementation of University policies/procedures as well as Medical School guidelines.

  • In collaboration with the Senior Manager, Greater Brisbane Clinical School prepare an annual operations budget, exercise financial delegation for operations expenditure and identify cost saving measures.

  • Ensure transparent and effective communication channels and reporting mechanisms are in place for stakeholders.

This is a full-time (100%), continuing position.

At HEW level 7, the full-time equivalent base salary will be in the range $96,649 - $105,244, plus a generous super allowance of up to 17%. The total FTE package will be up to $113,080 - $123,136 annually. As this role is covered by an Enterprise Agreement, you will also receive regular remuneration increases – at least once a year.


About You  

  • A degree with at least four years subsequent relevant experience (health related would be advantageous); or extensive experience and management expertise in technical or administrative fields; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.

  • Successful track record and sound understanding of effective stakeholder engagement including relationship building, understanding stakeholder needs, translation of strategic objectives into operational activities.

  • Proven ability to project manages multi-task, prioritise work and meet deadlines.

  • Demonstrated experience in supervising administrative functions and managing staff across multiple locations.

  • Ability to gather, interpret and use data, information, and insights.

  • Demonstrated initiative, flexibility, outcomes-focussed, teamwork.

  • High level of interpersonal skills and ability to effectively communicate and negotiate with internal and external stakeholders.

  • Proficiency in relevant technologies, including MS Office Suite, and the capacity to take up new technologies if required to meet the needs of the role (i.e. communication technologies)

  • It would be desirable to demonstrate relevant experience within the university sector or similar other large, complex organisation is highly desirable.
