The Australian Centre is a research hub focusing on settler colonialism and its institutions, promoting critical examination and more just relations between Indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples in Australia. With a rich program of research, events, education, and partnerships, the Centre aims to deepen our understanding of colonial history and contribute to the transformation of the nation.

About the Role

The Australian Centre is seeking a Teaching Specialist for their Treaty Education Program. This role involves collaborating with the Lecturer in Treaty to develop the curriculum, deliver webinars, assessments, and student consultations, and contribute to teaching and learning initiatives. The ideal candidate will align with the Centre's philosophical approach and receive support, guidance, and professional development opportunities.

Responsibilities include:

  • Contribute to the design, development, implementation and evaluation of exemplary learning and teaching resources which enhance the engagement experiences of a diverse cohort of students
  • Contribute to teaching excellence within the Australian Centre including supporting the coordination of subjects, preparation and conduct of webinars and MicroCerts
  • Advise on the diversification of the educational materials to consider, and embed, Indigenous perspectives and approaches where appropriate

Join us as a Teaching Specialist in the Australian Centre, working closely with the Lecturer in Treaty. Enhance the student experience by developing engaging learning resources, incorporating Indigenous perspectives, and providing effective teaching support. Contribute to curriculum coordination, assessments, and continuous professional development in alignment with Faculty expectations.

About You

You will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, strong organizational abilities, and the capability to work both independently and collaboratively. You will maintain positive working relationships and professionalism across all levels of the organization and interpret relevant policies and procedures effectively.

You will also: 

  • Have completed or be near completion of a Doctoral qualification in the relevant discipline 
  • Be prepared to successfully complete all the University’s required core compliance training programs 
  • Have demonstrated experience of teaching diverse groups of students in a range of delivery modes
