About the team  

The role of Finance is to support the appropriate stewardship of the University’s finance through the provision of a strategic financial advice, establishment of a financial management framework, financial management tools, procurement, management of the University’s Investment and Endowment portfolio, as well as financial oversight and accountability for finance and human resources administrative and transactional operations.

Finance undertakes this role through three core pillars: Financial Compliance, Financial Performance and Procurement.

About the opportunity  

You will lead and coordinate the University taxation requirements and provide strategic support and taxation advice to senior management. You will also be responsible for ensuring that the University is compliant with respect to relevant taxation laws across multiple jurisdictions.

Further, you will be responsible for supporting activities associated with continuous improvement, such as contributing toward the design of financial models and reports to support decision making and process improvement initiatives 

To be considered for this role, you will demonstrate: 

  • Relevant tertiary qualification in accounting, business or related field of study or demonstrated equivalent competency
  • Membership of a recognised Australian accounting body
  • Substantial demonstrated experience in accounting and taxation advice
  • Knowledge of Australian and international taxation legislation
  • Highly developed conceptual, analytical skills and problem-solving skills with the ability to research taxation issues and provide concise summary of legislation and practical implications
  • Proven record of involvement in financial management policy development and sound knowledge and understanding of Taxation legislation and accounting best practice standards
  • Proven record of successful interaction and providing specialist advice, in both written and oral form, to customers and senior management
