About This Opportunity

As a CMDB Analyst, your primary responsibility is to analyse the configuration management database (CMDB) requirements of The University of Queensland’s IT group, ITS. This involves a comprehensive examination of our existing home built CMDB system, identifying its strengths, weaknesses, and areas for improvement. Additionally, you will evaluate whether modifications to the current system are feasible or if selecting a different CMDB product would better align with our organisational needs.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • CMDB Assessment: Conduct a thorough assessment of our current CMDB system, including its architecture, data structure, integration capabilities, and user interface.

  • Requirement Gathering: Collaborate with stakeholders across various departments to gather requirements for the CMDB, ensuring alignment with organisational goals and IT infrastructure.

  • Gap Analysis: Identify gaps and deficiencies in the existing CMDB system compared to industry best practices and organisational requirements.

  • Vendor Evaluation: Research and evaluate alternative CMDB solutions available in the market, considering factors such as functionality, scalability, cost, and vendor reputation.

  • Recommendations: Based on your analysis, provide recommendations on whether to enhance the existing CMDB system through modifications or migrate to a different product.

  • Implementation Support: Collaborate with IT teams and vendors to support the implementation of recommended changes or the adoption of a new CMDB solution.

  • Documentation: Document findings, recommendations, and implementation plans to ensure clarity and transparency throughout the process.

This is a full-time (100%), fixed-term position through to 31st March 2025

At HEW level 8, the full-time equivalent base salary will be in the range $108,975 - $122,176, plus a generous super allowance of up to 17%.
