Our unit

Under the leadership of the Chief Financial Officer, Financial Services aims to be an enabler of strategy through providing high-quality financial services and products that respond to the changing needs of the business and financial governance and provide tangible and measurable value to the University.

Financial Services covers Corporate Accounting and Treasury, Financial Planning and Reporting, Finance Business Support & Advisory, and Procure to Pay.

The Systems Accountant will be responsible for the development, upgrade, maintenance, integrity and review of corporate systems within Financial Services. The successful candidate will be responsible for the systems-related integrity of a diverse range of University financial functions including accounting, reporting, system development and maintenance as well as business and statutory compliance obligations.

This is a great opportunity to work within a large finance team supporting a complex University environment.

How will you inspire us

We are looking for a critical thinker who can adapt to existing procedures, create new systems where needed and is keen to solve complex problems with stakeholders across the University. You will have an awareness of the University sector, Government and economic influences and have a solid understanding of accounting concepts and best practice system-based controls.

To be successful in this role, it is essential that you have experience using TechnologyOne.

You will have:

  • Post graduate qualifications or progress towards postgraduate qualifications in business, accounting or other relevant discipline and extensive relevant experience; or extensive experience and management expertise; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
  •  Demonstrated extensive knowledge of accounting concepts and advanced system accounting skills, including experience with business intelligence tools
  •  Demonstrated outstanding interpersonal and communication skills and demonstrated ability to develop effective relationships with key stakeholders at all levels - including an ability to communicate financial concepts to non-financial stakeholders.
  •  Proven ability to provide strategic support and insight to leaders within complex organisation structures.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and bring together people from different areas to participate in School/Division or University wide initiatives.

What we offer

This position will be offered as a HEW 8 full-time 12-month fixed-term role.

The remuneration range is from $107,800 - $125,767 plus 17% superannuation and leave loading.
