About the Role 

The Student Success Coach position involves working closely with a designated cohort of incoming and continuing students to identify those in need of additional support in completing their study program. The Coach will develop Individual Learning Plans (ILPs) in collaboration with the students and provide advising, mentoring, and monitoring of ILPs to maximize opportunities for student success. This includes assisting students in completing their training and progressing to further education, training, or employment by facilitating referrals to various support services within the University.

The Student Success Coach will be employed by Pathways and Engagement but will closely collaborate with Teaching Departments to ensure seamless communication with referring teachers and direct access for students. Coaches will report to the Student Success Coach program lead and manager, participating in a team-based Community of Practice to enhance practice and service delivery.

The ideal candidate for the Student Success Coach role is a highly motivated vocational/employment services worker with experience in providing educational support, course advice, and pathway guidance, particularly for disadvantaged learners. Student Success Coaches may be required to work across all Swinburne campuses and locations to support learners in addressing barriers to engagement and successful completion of their education, providing advice on learning options and next steps, developing ILPs, facilitating referrals to support services, offering coaching and mentoring, conducting workshops, and presenting information to groups or classes.

About You  
To be suitable for this role you will need to have experience in the below key accountabilities: 

  • Demonstrated experience in related work and study assistance including; vocational assistance, study support, recruitment, career guidance and employment services
  • Experience with high priority cohort would be desirable
  • A proven record of managing customer enquiries and a demonstrated commitment to customer service including follow up and closure activities
  • Highly developed verbal and written communication and demonstrated computer skills including, delivering presentations, the use of word processing, spreadsheets and database applications
Qualifications
  • A post graduate degree or vocational qualification in Career Counselling, Community Services, Vocational Training and Assessment with subsequent relevant experience; extensive experience and specialist expertise or broad knowledge or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or knowledge of the VET sector
