We are looking for a for an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander professional to join our Student Services team and play an integral role in providing support to high-risk students through outreach programs and case management, as well as providing course advice, including pathways to completion and course progression.

In this role you will…

  • Manage complex student enquiries triaged though the Curtin Connect operating framework.
  • Facilitate and coordinate targeted student outreach programs including workshops, information sessions and individual appointments to assist Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and high-risk students.
  • Work with key stakeholders to maintain an up-to-date knowledge of the University’s course structures, programs and progression requirements.
  • Communicate with students regarding a range of course and progression related activities; including students study plans, enrolment specifics, visa requirements etc.
  • Facilitate ongoing continuous improvement by identifying and analysing key challenges of students and collaborating with staff and systems across the University.

We are looking for someone with…

  • Cultural capacity and sensitivity, and in-depth knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island people traditions and ways of working
  • Degree-level qualification; or completion of a diploma with relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to develop and maintain professional working relationships across a wide range of areas and organisational levels.
  • Demonstrated ability in problem-solving and applying sound judgement and discretion to determine appropriate actions.
  • Demonstrated effective oral and written communication skills with ability to construct documentation and articulate information clearly and professionally
  • Highly effective time management and organisational skills with the ability to provide direction and support to other team members.
  • Competence in utilising computer-based information and student information systems.
  • Previous experience in a student facing role (desirable).
