About This Opportunity 

We are seeking a motivated Student and Academic Administration Assistant to provide a range of student and academic administrative support services within the School of Economics. This role is the first point of contact for student enquiries and an important part of creating a welcoming student experience within the School. This position is responsible for a diverse range of administrative processing tasks relating to students in the school’s academic programs and courses, as well as assisting the Student and Academic Administration teams.

Key responsibilities will include but are not limited too: 

  • Provide high quality advice to current and prospective students on a range of topics related to student and academic administration through triaging student enquiries and requests and handling telephone and in-person enquiries.

  • Apply a sound general knowledge of student and academic administration and develop specific knowledge of the policies and procedures.

  • Develop knowledge of and utilise software systems to perform student and academic administration tasks and be committed to using new programs as they are developed.

  • Prepare student and staff communications in relation to student and academic administration and related matters.

  • Assist Senior Officers, Student and Academic Administration on matters relating to student and academic administration as required.

  • Maintain and enter data using UQ systems relating to student and academic administration.

  • Any other duties as reasonably directed by your supervisor.

This is a full-time continuing position  

At HEW level 4, the full-time equivalent base salary will be in the range $71,640.06 - $75,957.51, plus a generous super allowance of up to 17%. The total FTE package will be up to $83,818.87 - $88,870.29 annually.  As these roles are covered by an Enterprise Agreement, you will also receive regular remuneration increases in line with the Enterprise Agreement.


About You  

  • Completion of a diploma level qualification; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.

  • Excellent interpersonal and written skills, a commitment to providing high level service.

  • Ability to work as part of a team and to organise workflow to meet competing demands and deadlines.

  • High level of attention to detail and accuracy in written work.

  • A strong orientation to the provision of a high level of customer service.

  • An empathy with and ability to communicate with students, including those from

  • diverse cultural backgrounds.

  • High level computing skills, preferably experience using Microsoft Office software.

  • Knowledge of University student computer systems and packages e.g. SI-net,

  • Business Objects, UniTask, iSuite packages and the use of CRM systems is

  • desirable.
