Established in 1956, The Bouverie Centre is a systemic practice-research organisation that draws on its history of bringing Family Therapy to Australia to promote its vision of healthy relationships in families, organisations and communities. The Centre is a value–based learning organization that integrates clinical, workforce development, academic and research. The Centre receives recurrent funding from The Department of Health and Human Services and generates fee-for-service income. 

Skills and Experience

To be considered for this position, you will have;

  • For work specific to the Women in Prison Project;
  • A clinical post-graduate qualification including Masters in Clinical Family Therapy, Masters of Social Work, Clinical Psychology or Occupational Therapy or Doctorate in Clinical Psychology, or equivalent training qualification and acknowledged experience.
  • The incumbent must hold at least provisional registration with their peak body, and be eligible for general registration (Australian Association of Family Therapy, Australian Psychological Society, Australian Association of Social Work etc).
  • Extensive experience and expertise or an equivalent alternate combination of relevant knowledge, training and/or experience will be considered.
  • Sound knowledge and significant experience in the provision of clinical services in the specialist field of family therapy adult mental health services;
  • Experience in working with families from different cultural backgrounds;
  • Skills in working with trauma, abuse and child protection related issues from a systemic perspective; and/or dual diagnosis from a family sensitive perspective;
  • A demonstrated ability to write reports and assist in the implementation of research and evaluation;
  • Well developed interpersonal and communication skills with a capacity to work independently and as part of a team as circumstances require;
  • A demonstrated ability to work flexibly and collaboratively, both within a team context at The Bouverie Centre and externally with other agencies;
