  • Base Salary $111,966 to $126,271 + 17% superannuation

About the opportunity

As the Strategic Engagement Manager, you will establish effective, stakeholder-focused relationships working across all eight Core Research Facilities (CRF). Working with the facility Academic Directors and Operations Managers and the CRF Operations Team, you will enhance the CRF’s commitment to delivering research excellence.

Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, CRF, your key responsibilities will be to:

  • build excellent relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders

  • promote the operational capacities, research highlights and impacts of the CRFs

  • manage the CRF’s social media presence, as well as collate traditional publications such as annual research highlights reports, website content, media releases, and other general media

  • oversee the organisation of events related to, and hosted by, the Core Research Facilities

  • coordinate CRF-led and CRF-leveraged research grant bids, partnerships and other opportunities

  • manage the ongoing collation and interpretation of research information and turn data into compelling narratives.

You will have the opportunity to develop communications strategies that showcase how the world-leading research infrastructure at the University enables efficient paths to research outcomes for our academics and external partners, solving real-world problems and creating change for good.

About you

  • tertiary qualifications in Science, Engineering, Media / Communications and/or Business – or a relevant discipline

  • strong stakeholder management and the ability to develop internal and external partnerships

  • proven experience in preparing persuasive communications, presentations and reports for stakeholders

  • superlative written communication skills and a strong attention to detail

  • a hunger to learn and a passion for research and the beneficial outcomes it provides humanity

  • experience designing, writing and editing brochures, newsletters and other print and digital documents 

  • experience working within the higher education sector or a large multifaceted organisation

  • a working knowledge of the university sector and the Australian research funding landscape is highly desirable.

Australian Temporary Residents currently employed at the University of Sydney may be considered for a fixed term contract for the length of their visa, depending on the requirements of the hiring area and the position.
