About Flinders Health and Medical Research Building

At the beginning of 2022, construction commenced on the $255 million Flinders Health and Medical Research Building (FHMRB). Due to open in the first quarter of 2024, the FHMRB will enable researchers, practitioners and industry partners to work together more closely than ever before, creating a hub of collaboration within southern Adelaide’s own biomedical research precinct. Located adjacent to Flinders Medical Centre and Flinders Private Hospital, it will be the focal point of research informed by genuine patient need, positioned to make an immediate improvement to people’s health and wellbeing.


About the Role

The Sterilisation Washup Technical Officer role will include autoclaving of waste and the provision of quality controlled cleaned and sterilised glassware, consumables and equipment for use in research within the Health and Medical Research Building (HMRB).

The role will work closely with researchers and the Technical Services team to provide an efficient service in line with infrastructure manufacturer recommendations, Flinders University procedures, Biosafety, Biosecurity and Work Health and Safety Legislation.


About You

  • Completion of a degree or an equivalent combination of experience and/or education and/or training

  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate a sterilisation and / or laboratory washup facility

  • Knowledge and experience in the cleaning, sterilisation, and handling of laboratory items

  • Experience in contaminated waste handling requirements

  • Demonstrated knowledge in WHS, PC2: Biosafety - Office of the Gene Technology Regulator (OGTR) -Gene Technology Act and BC2: Biosecurity - Department of Agriculture Fisheries & Forestry (DAFF) and the ability to accurately follow procedures.
