About the STEM Enrichment Academy

The Flinders University STEM Enrichment Academy is the only SA university led project to receive almost $1 million in Australian Government Department of Industry, Science and Resources funding through the latest round of the Women in STEM and Entrepreneurship (WiSE) program.

Established in 2018, we aim to increase the gender balance in STEM fields such as physics, engineering, mathematics and other career pathways by equipping female students with fresh insights into the potential and excitement of STEM subjects. To do this, we encourage young women to consider careers in STEM by engaging them in informative and inspiring activities that underline the benefits and opportunities of STEM studies before they close off their subject options at high school. So far, our STEM enrichment initiatives and activities have positively influenced hundreds of South Australian year 9 girls.

Our new programs of STEM enrichment Academy Phase II (funded by WISE grant Round 4) are expanding into the regional and remote areas of South Australia and the Northern Territory to engage another 1000 girls and 150 schoolteachers.
