About the team  

UWA is making significant investments in the Information and Technology Services area to enable its strategic direction and goals. Cybersecurity is one of these areas and is undergoing an uplift in capability and delivery of new services to align with the University’s risk strategy. 

The Cybersecurity & Technology Risk unit provides risk governance, architecture & design assurance, and operational governance to all aspects of the cyber security domain, from network security, platform security, application development, cyber awareness and education, and security operations. 

About the opportunity  

As the appointee, you will be responsible for coordinating cyber security and technology risk assurance activities and providing oversight and governance over risk remediation activities, audit findings and issues in support of UWA’s overall IT risk management program, which is designed to ensure that the University’s IT systems and information assets are adequately protected. 

You will work closely with other technology functions to assist with the development of audit and risk remediation action plans and reporting against issue remediation progress. 

You will own the delivery of a targeted and engaging cyber security awareness program across staff and students, aiming to influence positive behavioural change that reduces risk. 

About you  

You will have practical experience in a cyber security role with a familiarity of security frameworks and risk management methodologies. You will have experience with identifying and assessing cyber security risks, responding to and managing internal and external audit engagements, providing security consultancy and assurance activities and take a pragmatic approach to risk mitigation and security guidance.  

You will ideally have relevant industry certifications, such as CISSP, CISM, CRISC or CISA.
