The Opportunity

A new opportunity is available for a Special Collections Librarian to support the Special Collections Curator to provide a range of specialist services related to the management of Special Collections including acquisition, arrangement and description and engagement. 

The Special Collections Librarian is a key liaison point between teams within the Library who work with these collections including Digitisation, Collection Care and Storage and Collection Description and Data Quality. They also liaise with internal partners such as academic and divisional staff to ensure special collections are aligned with the University’s research and education priorities.

As the successful candidate you will have extensive knowledge of special collections, including rare books, ephemera and archival material along with experience in collection development, management and budget monitoring. This will include demonstrated knowledge in resource discovery, in particular specialised rare book and special collections cataloguing will be highly desirable.
