The Opportunity

You will be joining an established research team within the School of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) working on a project with the aim to extend existing deep learning-based methods into a user-centric application. As part of the team, you will focus on software design and development for a web-based system that supports efficient visualisation of deep learning-based medical image analysis results and provides an effective user-interface for users to perform ground truth annotation.

The role of Software Engineer reports to Dr Yang Song and Prof Maurice Pagnucco and has no direct reports.

  • Salary, Level 6: $89,670 to $95,656 per annum + 17% superannuation
  • Full time or Part time
  • Fixed-Term role – Until mid-December 2021
  • Location: Kensington – Sydney, Australia

Skills and Experience

  • Relevant tertiary degree in Computer Science with subsequent relevant experience, or equivalent level of knowledge gained through a combination of education, training and experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in web interface (HTML5, JavaScript) and backend (Python) development.
  • Knowledge and experience in machine/deep learning libraries (e.g., PyTorch).
  • Experience in large-scale data analysis and visualisation would be an advantage.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to work in a team.
  • Strong written, presentation, and communication skills
  • Demonstrate ability to work independently, adapt and prioritise work in order to meet agreed project milestones.
  • An understanding of and commitment to UNSW’s aims, objectives and values in action, together with relevant policies and guidelines
  • Knowledge of health and safety responsibilities and commitment to attending relevant health and safety training
