Working under general to broad direction, the Social Media & Digital Marketing Coordinator implements and optimises social media and digital marketing activity to support the overarching Marketing Strategy. Working closely with the Digital Marketing & Social Media Lead and other key stakeholders, this role works across university-wide priorities to develop, coordinate and improve day-to-day and campaign social media and digital marketing activities.
Importantly, this position will contribute to the development and implementation of marketing and communication strategies, with a focus on social media, by providing insights to deliver measurable social media strategies that deliver measurable outcomes in line with key University objectives as envisioned in The 2025 Agenda.

Key Position Responsibilities

The Social Media & Digital Marketing Coordinator is accountable for:

  • Maintaining a social media calendar with organic and paid content that supports the Marketing Strategy and supporting the implementation and optimisation of social and digital marketing campaigns, in accordance with approved guidelines and University policies. This includes digital advertising through Facebook, Instagram, Google, YouTube and other emerging channels, with a focus on leads and retargeting.

  • Developing, coordinating and publishing social media activity across university-wide channels in collaboration with key stakeholders across the University to ensure consistency and quality of messaging, and alignment with university priorities.

  • Assisting the marketing team to develop digital marketing and advertising requirements. This may include digital marketing campaign planning and optimisation, repurposing existing content and development of new materials tailored to various audiences, devices and channels. Materials may include emails, video editing, photography, blogs and a range of engaging copy.

  • In collaboration with the Creative Studio create digital assets for use across digital channels in accordance with branding guidelines, and optimise design as required.

  • Drafting, delivering and optimising conversational, high-converting emails and blogs to nurture leads and prospects and working closely with the Marketing and Automation Lead to maximise user journeys through automated campaigns. 

  • Coordinating day-to-day activities for the University’s social media channels, including the use of emerging technologies to increase social engagement for student recruitment events and activities. This includes medium and long-term planning for the social media calendar.

  • Developing, preparing and presenting reports showing performance trends on campaigns and ad hoc activity to stakeholders within the University. This includes analysing and reporting on performance across social media, email and web channels using tools such as Facebook Business Manager, Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, Campaign Monitor and Google DataStudio.

  • Assisting with development and monitoring of social media policy and user guidelines and provide support to social media users across the University, including working closely with the College Content Producers.

  • Liaising with the Media team to coordinate the timely dissemination of media-worthy news on social media and to ensure a consistent and orchestrated approach to media announcements across all communications channels.

  • Reviewing systems and processes to identify, develop and implement continuous improvements that deliver high quality customer centric services.

  • Any other responsibilities in line with the level of the position as assigned by the Supervisor and/or the University.

Key Position Capabilities

  • A relevant tertiary qualification in communications, media studies or a related discipline with subsequent relevant experience or an equivalent combination of demonstrated equivalent skills, knowledge and experience and/or education and/or training.
  • Proven ability to manage social media and digital marketing activity, and interpret and apply relevant policies and procedures, including coordinating and maintaining content, sourcing appropriate images and video, responding to enquiries, maintaining a digital content calendar and reporting on key issues.
  • Proven ability to monitor and report on digital analytics with a focus on making recommendations to ensure ongoing improvements.
  • Experience with content authoring on email management systems, content management systems and blog platforms.
  • Sound problem solving capabilities, the ability to work independently, determine and prioritise tasks and meet deadlines, and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience with social media, search and email marketing, and other techniques and tools, and knowledge of best practice principles and standards for digital content across web, social and email marketing.
  • Highly developed written, oral and interpersonal skills and the ability to negotiate and communicate effectively with staff at all levels and prepare correspondence, briefs and other documents.
  • Experience in Adobe Creative Suite is an advantage.
