We’re looking for a Social Media Coordinator who can stay across key channel trends and understands the best ways to leverage them, to produce branded content that engages and inspires our audiences.
You’ll be tasked with growing audiences and engagement on social channels through the development and delivery of creative and dynamic digital marketing strategies. Best practice channel planning, implementation, monitoring and reporting come naturally to you, and you have a toolkit of platforms and tactics to draw from. Reporting to the Manager, Social Media and Content, you’ll be supported by a team of channel leads and content producers to deliver best practice social content that positions Deakin as a leader in social media and content. 

As a Social Media Coordinator you will: 


  • Develop creative, persuasive concepts, copy, video and content for social media, ensuring content is on-brand and consistent in terms of style, quality and tone-of-voice and visual representation 

  • Draw on a diverse range of people, groups and resources to identify new or improved opportunities, processes and ways of working to enhance organisational strategy 

  • Establish and demonstrate a high level of learning, energy and commitment and maintain personal integrity and make decisions consistent with university values 

  • Investigate and probe for facts, identify relevant solutions, and select the most appropriate from the range of alternatives 

  • Act as a coach and work with team members to facilitate growth and development by giving balanced, constructive feedback, considering individual capability and team performance, in alignment with Deakin’s code of conduct and core university strategies and policies that promote a safe, sustainable and productive working environment 

  • Work to grow engagement and size of Deakin University’s online community through its digital channels 


  • Implement, monitor, and analyse digital activity and provide regular reporting, and revise our strategy based on the results  


To be successful, you’ll have:  


  • A Degree with subsequent relevant experience; or 

  • Extensive experience and specialist knowledge or broad knowledge in technical or administrative fields 

  • An equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training. (marketing, multimedia, communications, or other related areas) 

  • Experience in content marketing and copywriting 

  • Experience with content creation and management through blogging or social communities 

  • Strong social media background and understanding of social media trends
