Location: Melbourne Burwood and Geelong (Waterfront) campuses  

The role:

As a sessional teacher you will make an important contribution to the Deakin Law School, the unit(s) and the duties for which you are engaged. You may prepare and conduct classes and seminars, consult with students, undertake assessment and attend meetings as required by the Unit Chair.

Areas of subject expertise that we are recruiting in include (though not restricted to):

  • Administrative Law
  • Torts Law
  • Corporations Law 
  • Property Law
  • Alternative Dispute Resolution
  • Equity and Trusts
  • Contract Law 
  • Practical legal training, for which professional legal experience and/or a Practice Certificate is  preferred. 
  • Criminal Law
  • Evidence Law
  • Tax Law 

To be successful, you'll have:

  • Appropriate degree or experience relevant to unit. (Please note AQF requirements, below).
  • Understanding of relevant unit subject content as demonstrated by academic achievement and/or professional competency. 
  • Excellent teaching skills and experience teaching the subject-matter, or capacity to develop teaching skills within the context of the unit.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with others. 
  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills, ability to communicate effectively with students and unit chair and commitment to providing timely and constructive feedback on student assignments.

    AQF Level Guide
    Teaching into:

  • Bachelor Degree – must have Honours or above, or in the alternative, a Bachelor degree together with a Graduate Certifical/Diploma (or equivalent experience)                     
  • Honours, Grad Cert, Grad Dip – must have Masters or above (or equivalent experience) 
  • Masters – must have Doctoral degree (or equivalent experience)

Please note all successful applicants will need to have a Working with Children Check at their own expense.
