The Opportunity
The Monash Animal Research Platform (MARP) are seeking to appoint a Service Technician who will be responsible for operating specialised equipment correctly, safely and in accordance with SOP's, as well as training other staff in their correct use. This position is also responsible for the service area and will ensure that the major activities are carried out and processed in a timely manner.
Join the team at the Monash Animal Research Platform (MARP) as a Service Technician. In this role, you'll be responsible for operating specialized equipment correctly and safely in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Additionally, you'll have the opportunity to train fellow staff members on the correct use of the equipment. Your role will also encompass overseeing the service area, ensuring efficient and timely completion of key activities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate equipment within the Service Area, including sterilizers, cage washers, animal change stations, animal caging systems, and other related equipment, following departmental SOPs
- Coordinate regular maintenance and repair tasks for the facility's equipment
- Communicate with contractors regarding machinery issues in the absence of the Facility Manager
- Maintain regular communication with animal staff to ensure well-prepared and adequately stocked animal rooms
- Supervise and train staff members in Service Area duties, while ensuring sufficient coverage of the area through daily rostering
To thrive in this role, you should bring relevant work experience, training, and knowledge in an Animal Facility environment, or possess equivalent experience.
