About the opportunity

The Service Integration Lead provides leadership and technical expertise in the area of cloud computing and application integration, including cost, performance, and security. They ensure that software developers and application owners understand the University’s IT capabilities and assist these groups in accessing ICT cloud resources.

Working collaboratively across the University, they establish tools, frameworks and support mechanisms that assist application developers, support teams and external providers in delivering fit for purpose applications. The position holder will understand and document the requirements for application hosting environments and work with the cloud operations team to deliver the required servers, storage, networks and detailed configurations required for a successful implementation. In addition to hands on business computing work the role advocates for technical, process and culture change, and engages ICT teams to deliver innovative and automated solutions.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

  • determine and document client expectations and deliver outcomes to agreed targets and timeframes
  • undertake a hands-on role supporting cloud computing environments ensuring timely and effective responses to users’ needs including prioritisation of requests and incidents
  • provide subject matter expertise on contemporary IT industry trends, primarily as they relate to cloud solutions, automation, and compute
  • manage the implementation of operating environments and activities related to the business plan for the work area, ensuring effective conversion of strategy into operating processes and activities, and the efficient alignment and utillisation of resources to meet key priorities and objectives
  • develop partnerships with internal & external stakeholders to cultivate trust, collaboration and commitment in the ICT services and resources, including building the business computing service and gathering client requirements to set team priorities.

About you

  • tertiary qualifications - Information Technology or an equivalent combination of training and experience
  • extensive experience managing supplier relationships to deliver cost affective and quality outcomes
  • ability to think conceptually, and transform concepts into technological infrastructure deliverables through a technical team
  • excellent and persuasive communication and negotiating skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with non-ICT personnel. Lead and facilitate discussions
  • strong technical competence in computing including Cloud Computing, Windows and Linux OS, Storage, and compute
  • excellent leadership and people management skills, with the ability to lead, and motivate a team of technical staff, as well as work as part of the team.

Australian Temporary Residents currently employed at the University of Sydney may be considered for a fixed term contract for the length of their visa, depending on the requirements of the hiring area and the position.
