About the position

The Senior Test Analyst is responsbile for the development of the testing strategies for the whole of IS, projects and individual systems, as required. Further to this the Senior Test Analyst is responsible for the creation and maintenance of all automated and manual testing processes, and execution of all testing conducted for the whole of IS.  This includes developing test plans, cases, scripts, data and environments as well as execution of the same and managing the resolution of defects to closure.

Skills and Experience

To be considered for this position, you will have;

  • A degree in a related discipline to the position with subsequent relevant work experience; or work experience and domain expertise; or an equivalent alternate combination of relevant knowledge, training and/or experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret business requirements and functional specifications to develop test cases and scripts and execute the cases and scripts to verify functional specifications and business requirements.
  • Proven ability using test management and test automation tools (such as Silk Central, HP Quality Centre or similar) for functional, integration, performance and volume testing.
  • Advanced knowledge and demonstrated experience of software delivery methodologies, such as SDLC and Agile, and how to apply testing practices within them.
  • Proven high level knowledge  and experience in software testing standards and methodologies e.g. ISTQB.
  • Proven high level knowledge and demonstrated experience of working in an ITIL framework.
  • Proven ability to apply theoretical knowledge or expertise to bring together diverse (and sometimes conflicting) information to solve problems.
  • Demonstrated organisation, problem solving and negotiation skills, with an ability to coordinate several different streams of work concurrently and take a proactive role in applying proven techniques to solve problems affecting the division and more broadly the University.
  • Demonstrated high level of self-motivation and personal management skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills, especially the capacity to work collaboratively and cooperatively in small teams and ability to develop excellent working relationships with colleagues, students and other stakeholders.
