About the Role

The College of Medicine and Public Health are seeking a Senior Technical Officer to manage the Technical Services function, including staff, development, teaching materials and equipment in the provision of a safe and clean learning environment for Medicine and Paramedicine students.  The Senior Technical Officer will be responsible for maintaining the operations of the Simulated Learning Environment (primarily for Medicine; Paramedicine as required) including:

  • Setting up and dismantling equipment

  • Ensuring good working order of equipment through assembly, testing and cleaning

  • Leading the day-to-day supervision of the team as well as Work, Health, and Safety protocols within the Learning Environment

  • Maintaining appropriate records of equipment

  • Liaising with various internal and external University staff

About You

We are looking for an experienced technical officer within the clinical teaching area who has a strong familiarity with equipment used in simulated clinical teaching environments, including assembly and testing. You will have strong communication and leadership skills, capable of supervising a team in day-to-day activities to work effectively and leading Work, Health, and Safety practices. You have a high degree of autonomy and can comfortably prioritise tasks, use your initiative and manage complex workflows to deadlines.

In addition, you should also demonstrate:

  • Completion of a degree with subsequent relevant experience; or extensive experience and/or specialist expertise or broad knowledge in technical or administrative fields.

  • Relevant experience in a university or teaching environment within the health environment, particularly with simulation manikins and standardised patients.

  • Strong computer skills which incorporate management of a broad range of IT products.
