  • Full-time, fixed term contract from September 2021 to July 2024
  • Commencement Salary: $71,205 per annum (plus 17% superannuation)


About the Role

This position will provide expert technical services on a laser physics/engineering research project, particularly in the areas of electronics, computer controlled instrumentation, mechanical fabrication, drafting and design (CAD) and manufacturing engineering.

Core Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the research projects by integrating and building OME electronics
  • Develop robust methods, tools and computer programs to assist in the reproducible fabrication and assembly of precision laser components
  • Document new and existing developments and tooling via engineering documentation and CAD-aided drafting to a professional standard
  • Communicate effectively between research academic staff and external stakeholders to support project outcomes
  • Undertake administrative duties which includes contributing to reporting and presentation requirements as required

Essential Skills and Experience
  • Bachelor qualifications or Trade Certificate in Engineering or relevant field, along with demonstrated extensive experience in a technical discipline
  • Recent experience working in an engineering field along with hands-on laboratory experience
  • Experience in drafting to a professional level with CAD programs (Solidworks, AutoCAD, Autodesk Inventor)
  • Demonstrated experience with data acquisition / control software such as LabVIEW or MATLAB programming
  • Well-developed experience and knowledge of WHS regulations in a laboratory/workshop/field environment
