  • Full Time, Continuing Position 

  • Salary range $160,000 - $180,000 plus 17% Superannuation 

  • Based at the Melbourne CBD campus, and hybrid ways of working 


 


About the Position 


 
We are looking for a motivated and experienced Senior Strategic Financial Business Partner for the College of Vocational Education (College of VE). This role is responsible for the provision of high quality financial management and strategic advice for the College of VEWorking with the Deputy Chief Financial Officer (Strategic Finance) to provide high quality budget, forecast and management accounting information and advice on a timely basisThis information can take the form of monthly management accounts, analysis and insights, the annual budget, forecasting, course costing and other project work required to build capability of the College. 


 


The responsibilities of the role include: 


 


Finance Leadership 


  • Leadership and co-ordination of the College of VE’s financial management, including the provision of financial advice to the College and to foster a culture that embraces change and encourages innovation. 

  • Provide strategic advice to the College of VE’s Senior Leadership Team, Finance Leadership team and Deputy Chief Financial Officer Financial Planning & Analysis, including the active management of risk. 

  • Identify and provide insights into financial issues or opportunities RMIT wide at an executive level. 


 


Financial Planning & Forecasting 


  • Lead and coordinate the budget and forecasting process for the College of VE, aligned to the strategic goals of the University. 

  • Provide financial input into College of VE strategy development. 

  • Contribute to 5 year financial modelling & scenario planning. 

  • Supporting and reviewing student load and revenue forecasting 


 


Management Reporting & Analysis 


  • Preparation of monthly management reports with analysis to budget, forecast and prior year, together with KPI reporting. 

  • Collaborating with business teams to identify and address financial risks and opportunities. 

  • Support Deputy Chief Financial Officer (Strategic Finance) in preparation of VCE and Council presentations including budget, forecast, KPI and scorecard reporting. 


 


Financial Evaluation & Business Cases 


  • Support and review of business cases for strategic investments and partnerships including support in identifying quantitative and qualitative benefits, costs and risks using a financial assessment model. 

  • Providing financial support and review for post implementation reviews. 


 


Financial Advice and Support 


  • Producing meaningful financial analysis and insights and presenting information to senior management to aid in strategic decision-making. 

  • Develop detailed financial models to support strategic initiatives, including scenario planning and risk analysis. 

  • Identify external trends that may impact RMIT in the longer term and prioritise their strategic relevance. 

  • Overlay commercial acumen on analysis performed by the Finance and Governance portfolio to drive insights and decision support. 

  • Help to inform and educate stakeholders to financial impacts of critical decisions. 

  • Articulate complex financial data, effectively communicating the ‘so what’ and ‘now what’ to create understanding and engagement while challenging senior stakeholders to push beyond presenting problem to uncover the root cause 

  • Effectively communicate to achieve desired outcomes by confidently presenting in a concise and articulate manner to senior leaders and stakeholders; draw upon innovative communication techniques and proactively coach team members on communication styles 

  • Constructively challenge and recommend changes to the business underpinned by sound financial expertise. 

  • Drive commercial decision making that generates commercial value and aligns to RMIT's strategic objectives 

  • Undertake ad-hoc in depth analysis support on regular basis to the Deputy Chief Financial Officer Financial Planning & Analysis, as well as CFO 


Other 


  • Recommend enhancements to systems and processes within the F&G Portfolio that facilitates effective resource deployment. 

  • Support key transformation projects. 

  • Lead, develop and motivate a team of finance staff to develop and implement strategies and solutions that have a significant positive impact on the College of VE’s capability. 

  • Foster a culture of collaboration and inclusion and promote diversity
