Who are we looking for?

We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join Digital Business Solution, Administrative Division.

The Senior Software Engineer is a core role within the Education and Research portfolio, responsible for the design, development, maintenance and support of application solutions in the delivery of QUT’s Digital Strategy. This role will work in partnership with QUT colleagues, clients, vendor partners, operational teams, projects and other IT professionals to ensure an integrated and collaborative approach to the development of new enterprise solutions and the ongoing maintenance and continuous improvement of existing services.

What you need to succeed

  • Education and training equivalent to postgraduate qualifications (or progress towards postgraduate qualifications) and extensive relevant experience in software design, development, delivery and support in a large and diverse organisation.
  • High-level analytical and problem-solving skills, with a demonstrated ability to identify emerging issues, trends and opportunities to provide insightful recommendations and drive practical, innovative solutions that achieves organisational goals and objectives.
  • Demonstrated ability in the coordination of incident and problem management across teams, as well as the testing, release, monitoring and support of changes utilising the practices of Agile, DevOps and CI/CD to ensure the delivery of quality outcomes.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a proven ability to build relationships, collaborate, negotiate, influence and gain commitment from a diverse group of stakeholders to achieve business objectives.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team and to work autonomously with limited supervision, displaying initiative and creativity to achieve outcomes.
  • Demonstrated experience in software development using various languages (such as Java, JavaScript, SQL or similar) as well as literacy in low-code/no-code, web services, databases, testing and monitoring tools.
