Job Description

HEP 6 $82,372 - $89,161 per annum plus 17% employer superannuation contributions. This is a full-time (36.75 hours per week) continuing position.

About the role

The Senior Selection Officer will join a talented team that is responsible for assessing course and credit applications at VU across multiple channels at VU. The role requires provision of superior customer service and goal-oriented behaviours to help achieve the University’s goals in the admission of students. The role also requires sound decision making skills to be applied when making admission decisions including credit (advanced standing), and pathways while working collaboratively with the other staff within the Admissions unit and across the University.

Major Accountabilities

  • Responsible for assessing and making selection decisions using the VTAC system and the assessment of direct applications, ensuring timelines for selection are met.
  • Identify and monitor pathway cohorts, establish eligibility to progress, ensure the timely issue of enrolment advice and recording of associated credit.
  • Support the Senior Coordinator, Selection in the review, planning and implementation of all Admissions-related processes and activities to ensure efficient operations and a high level of service to future students and other internal and external stakeholders.
  • Provide expert factual and accurate advice for a range of admission activities and projects as required.
  • Liaise effectively and at a high level with organisation units and staff beyond the Admissions, Pathways & Scholarships Unit to gather and prepare information for dissemination to the University community about Admissions, VTAC and Direct Applications to ensure clear, current and timely information is available to future students and to other areas of the University.
  • Contribute to the quality improvement process through continuous review of relevant policies and procedures relating to all Admissions processes and make recommendations to achieve continuous improvement.

Note: Occasional evening and weekend work and restrictions on annual leave may be necessary during peak periods.
