About the opportunity
The University of Sydney School of Pharmacy is a constituent body of the University of Sydney, Australia. Pharmacy research has the potential to influence a huge range of health areas. Their research is at the forefront of drug discovery as well as clinical and sociological aspects of pharmacy and health services.
The Senior Research Officer-Health Services collaborates with the Chief Investigator under broad direction and exercises providing independent judgement which includes actively leading and contributing to research activities, designing research protocols, undertaking critical aspects of research work and clinical trial requirements. They can contribute to the role from their previous experience in this field to project management and delivery of the role's key accountabilities.
Your key responsibilities will be to:
- taking a lead role in the collection of research data and in preparing initial statistical analyses and insights for inclusion in preliminary reports
- designing, developing, and managing appropriate databases to collect and analyse information by undertaking complex research, under broad guidance of the Chief Investigator and in collaboration with other senior research staff
- managing the development of research publications and presentations including preparing literary reviews
- ensuring that ethics guidelines, standards and WHS requirements are met
- solving complex conceptual problems and makes recommendations based on analysis in collaboration with other researchers to the Chief Investigator.
About you
- PhD or Research Master's degree in medical health science with subsequent research experience
- demonstrated and strong record of publications, conference papers, reports and/or professional and/or technical contributions in the relevant discipline area
- demonstrated experience and skill in designing and conducting quantitative and qualitative research projects along with working knowledge of funding and grant submission processes
- experience in interpretive statistical analysis, high level computer skills and database management, expertise in using Python or R is desirable
- working understanding and current knowledge of relevant aspects of the Work Health and Safety Policy and relevant legislation (including Safe Laboratory Practices for roles based in Laboratory)
- experience conducting research in health services research and in particular pharmacy or experience as a pharmacist is desirable.
