Curtin University and WA Country Health Services (WACHS) are collaborating to further strengthen WA country research and innovation opportunities. Two key pillars of activity within the Curtin-WACHS Alliance focus on strengthening Aboriginal Health and Digital Innovation research and innovation.

This role is funded through a WA Department of Health Future Health Research Innovation (FHRI) Fellowship, and this position will support the work of the FHRI Fellow, focused on:  

1) Understanding the experiences, preferences and values of Aboriginal people in relation to the use of digital technologies.
2) Co-designing and developing digital technology solutions that are culturally secure and support Aboriginal people to live healthy lives in their communities.
3) Piloting and evaluating the implementation of digital solutions across WACHS regions.

We are seeking a Research Assistant/Associate to provide research, administration and technical support to the FHRI Fellow, working in partnership with WACHS, Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Services, and the WA Aboriginal community.

You will require current work rights in Australia that match the tenure of this role.
  Only in limited situations will visa sponsorship situations be considered.

To be considered, you will bring to the role:

  • A degree (preferably honours) in a relevant discipline with considerable relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
  • Relevant experience working with Aboriginal communities and Indigenous research methodologies.
  • Experience engaging with a range of stakeholders, including Aboriginal community, health service providers and industry.
  • High level written communication skills with the ability to articulate complex material in clear and concise language and contribute to research reports and publications.
  • Qualitative research skills (conducting yarning circles, interviews, analysing & synthesising qualitative data).
  • Quantitative research skills (survey design, analysis & synthesising quantitative data).
  • Experience in conducting literature reviews.
