The Division of Research and Innovation provides leadership in achieving the University’s strategic goals, particularly in relation to research strategy, researcher education, services, infrastructure and supporting the development of world-class research and impact, both nationally and internationally. Supporting an ethos of excellence, innovation, engagement and impact, the Division is responsible for achieving the research objectives set out in the University Strategic Plan.
Research Services provides administrative support services to the University's Research community in relation to competitive research grant opportunities, applications and awards, research ethics and compliance administration, research integrity, research-related reporting and data collections (including Excellence in Research for Australia and Engagement and Impact); and general and strategic advice to researchers and research leaders.
Working under broad direction the Senior Research Grants Officer will liaise directly with University senior officers and external parties to coordinate activities associated with a portfolio of competitive research grant applications and awards (including major strategic opportunities). The Senior Research Grants Officer will take a major role in the development of strategies and systems to enhance grant applications and manage application rounds and facilitate the negotiation of funding contracts.
The Senior Research Grants Officer will provide mentoring to junior grants officers on pre and post award matters and will provide support for other new initiatives under the Research Strategy when feasible.
To be successful you will need:
- Substantial experience in research grant administration, including interpreting contracts and agreements and reviewing research related project budgets
- Demonstrated ability to provide high quality advice to staff on research grant administration issues, including pre and post award matters.
- Demonstrated high-level conceptual, analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated ability to provide mentoring to junior staff members, including the ability to provide coaching and guidance to staff on operational matters.
- Demonstrated capacity to evaluate and interpret complex rules, policies and procedures.
The successful candidate will have a high level of self-motivation, initiative, creativity and sound judgement.
You will have excellent organisational skills with the demonstrated ability to prioritise, plan and work to tight deadlines.
