Level C ($123,075-$141,537) or Level D ($147,685-$162,449) per annum plus an employer contribution of up to 17% superannuation applies.

5 Year Fixed term appointment available.

The School of Agriculture, Food & Wine and PIRSA/SARDI are seeking to develop ongoing capability in entomology and plant health modelling with the joint appointment of an emerging academic leader who will contribute to enabling rapid and evidence-based responses to current outbreaks and future biosecurity threats in South Australia.

The appointee will be required to establish and maintain a dynamic research program in their discipline and develop interdisciplinary collaborations across the wider academic and external industry stakeholder communities. The appointee will lead research initiatives that will contribute to insect pest management, particularly but not exclusively modelling of exotic pest incursions in South Australia.

To be successful you will need:

  • Demonstrated research excellence and publication record in entomology/invertebrate biology.
  • Demonstrated research track record in epidemiological modelling or applied entomology to inform pest management, and an interest in working at the interface of these two disciplines.
  • Success in obtaining external research funding as a lead investigator from national competitive agencies.
  • Demonstrated ability to forge meaningful external relationships with relevant industry stakeholders.
  • Strong organisational, time management, team building, intercultural and interpersonal skills.
