About the Role
The Enterprise Fellow – Indigenous Health Equity (IHE) will join the Indigenous Health Equity Unit within the Melbourne School of Population and Global Health to focus on improving support for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families, with a particular emphasis on addressing intergenerational trauma. This role involves leading, developing, and managing a research program within an Aboriginal-led interdisciplinary team, collaborating with various stakeholders to ensure technical oversight of project activities and information flow.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Contributing to research activities, and information flow, as evidenced by successful delivery of project milestones.
  • Liaising and engaging with relevant consortium partners and others, with limited input and direction, provide high quality technical advice and support.
  • Directly overseeing the development, implementation and integration of all project activities, including protocol preparation, operational planning and implementation, supporting field staff, compliance with regulatory requirements, data management and analysis/reporting.
  • Supervising junior staff on all aspects of the research including ethics proposal, study design, project management, stakeholder involvement, conduct of research and preparation of academic and non-academic outputs.

Who We Are Looking For
You will bring your experience in both independent and collaborative work to achieve project goals within deadlines, along with your ability to effectively engage with diverse stakeholder groups and maintain strong interpersonal relationships while valuing ethics and diversity. 

The position will require PhD qualifications in one or more of epidemiology, health or allied health (e.g. psychology, medicine, nursing/midwifery), quantitative social science or related disciplines. The successful applicant is expected to demonstrate high degree of responsibility, self-motivation and organisation and a passion for the research field.

You will also have:

  • Combination of education and relevant experience in a field such as public health, health systems, health service delivery, health promotion or health-related discipline.
  • Experience providing high-quality supervision to junior staff.
  • High-level project management skills.
  • Capacity to maintain and contribute to industry partnerships and collaborations including Indigenous communities and organisations, the government and non-government sector and a broad range of health professionals and organisations in order to successfully implement research activities.

This role requires that the successful candidate must undergo and maintain an up-to-date Working with Children Check. This is essential to guarantee a secure environment for all individuals at the University.
