Your New Role
You will work with a multidisciplinary team to manage, plan and conduct research to build knowledge in the fields of ageing and dementia risk prediction using advanced statistical and machine learning techniques, using “big” datasets. This position provides you with the opportunity to engage with consumer groups and stakeholders (e.g., clinical colleagues) to inform the development of a dementia risk assessment toolkit for use in the general population and clinical settings. You will also be able to collaborate with academic colleagues with shared interests within the fields of ageing and dementia; nationally and internationally to expand the program of research.
In this role you will:

  • Project planning: develop new solutions for analysing “big data” and design strategies to enable a personalised approach to dementia prevention.
  • Project implication: translate research findings into real world solutions to make an impact on dementia numbers in Australia and globally.
  • Collaboration: work with national and international partners to expand the project through new funding applications.
  • Continuing professional development: expand computational skills to enhance research hypothesis.
  • Management: develop leadership skills to manage small to large scale projects.

You will require current work rights in Australia that match the tenure of this role.

  • A doctoral qualification in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Health Sciences, or other relevant area.
  • Proven experience in the application of advanced analytics to “big data” including, but not limited to, artificial intelligence, neural networks, and decision trees.
  • A significant record of obtaining research income, including nationally competitive research grants and/or fellowships.
  • Ability to interrogate electronic health record data and bring new insights.
  • Demonstrated academic leadership experience in the discipline/profession and in community engagement.
  • Demonstrated high level communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to foster the development of a collegial and supportive working environment and the ability to interact with students and staff with cross cultural sensitivity.
  • Previous experience in health economics including cost-effectiveness evaluations is desirable.
