About the opportunity

As the Senior Research Development Officer, you will play a key role in supporting research funding performance at the University by providing strategic advice to researchers to develop high quality, successful research grant applications, developing and delivering local research development activities in partnership with Faculties and Schools, and supporting the development of processes and systems for the identification of research opportunities for researchers to enhance funding success.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

  • report to the Research Development Manager (Health and Medical)
  • manage relationships and communication with Faculties and Schools, the different teams within the Research Portfolio, and the Research Operations / Research Pipeline and Pre-Award teams
  • provide strategic advice to help researchers secure competitive research funding and build research reputation
  • support the development of systematic mechanisms for identification of research opportunities for researchers
  • manage the provision of research development services and resources provided by the Pipeline and Pre-Award Team
  • contribute to drafting and reviewing policy and procedural documents and operational protocols

About you

  • academic qualification in a relevant field, such as Health, Medical Science, or Biology
  • experience in a Research related role, and/or within the higher education sector
  • knowledge of Government policies regarding research funding, and processes related to identifying, securing and managing funding
  • understanding of strategy and policy development, planning and policy review, and implementation
  • strong communication skills and the demonstrated ability to provide sound strategic research development advice to researchers
  • analytical, strategic, and critical thinking skills with experience in evaluating complex problems to make sound judgement.
