About the Role 

The Senior Research Analytics Developer will work as the technology lead of the Research Analytics Services team in Swinburne Research to deliver systems development, integration and support; data quality oversight; and analytical reporting of research performance. The incumbent is responsible for developing business intelligence solutions leading to deep strategic insights that support the University research and innovation agenda and meet compliance obligations.

The incumbent will play a lead role in developing, maintaining and continuously improving research performance data, systems and processes, ensuring best practice data collection, storage and reporting methods are developed and adopted across the University. This includes actively engaging with stakeholders to confirm requirements, establish organizational data and reporting standards and quality assurance processes, draft documentation, provide technical solutions, and to remediate current systems and data where necessary.

About You  

To be suitable for this role you will need to have experience in the below key accountabilities: 

  • Demonstrated experience in the design, development and delivery of technical solutions and applications applying Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) principles, to the satisfaction of stakeholders and end users.
  • Demonstrated experience querying, manipulating and storing data, including the ability to write advanced SQL, PHP JavaScript, and Python to extract, manipulate and visualise data from source systems and reporting platforms. 
  • Relevant experience in scoping, planning and managing complex projects, preferably relating to database implementations in research or university environments, as well as the with a demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks, and prioritise effectively to meet agreed standards and deadlines.
  • Highly developed communication skills and demonstrated ability to explain and display information in understandable formats, including compelling visualisations of data and the ability to provide commentary on issues. 
  • Demonstrated ability to proactively influence and form positive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders and to provide high quality advice and outcomes to clients at all organisational levels.

Qualifications

  • A relevant postgraduate qualification in information systems or computer science, or an undergraduate degree with extensive research management experience, education or training.
