About the opportunity

The Sydney Institute for Community Language Education (SICLE) Senior Project Specialist provides project management advice and operational support to project teams, coordinating the implementation and delivery of a broad range of activities and tasks in order to meet established milestones and deliverables to support SICLE’s leadership and staff to fulfil the mission and objectives of SICLE.

The SICLE Senior Project Specialist will be working closely with principals and teachers from Community Language Schools organising and facilitating professional learning opportunities and research projects.

The Senior Project Specialist is responsible for providing management support to project teams within SICLE and preparing status reports in line with broader project governance requirements. The Senior Project Specialist will manage stakeholders and communications, ensuring effective collaboration and team work with other project teams and stakeholders across SICLE and the University.

Your key responsibilities will be:

  • provide project management specialist support and advice to contribute to the planning and establishment of projects

  • collaborate effectively within cross-functional teams to develop comprehensive and accurate project plans that ensure consistency and alignment with project objectives

  • coordinate the logistical aspects of multiple projects, while effectively managing project teams' performance and resource allocation

  • generate detailed project activity reports and proactively implement necessary changes to ensure consistent progress towards milestones and timely delivery of project deliverables

  • develop and implement robust project governance procedures to effectively monitor project performance, mitigate risks, and support the development of business cases and audit reports

  • create and maintain productive relationships with diverse internal and external project stakeholders, while implementing strategic communication plans to ensure stakeholders are informed and engaged

  • monitor project financials by tracking budgets, allocating costs effectively, and promptly identifying and addressing any financial issues or project-related problems

  • undertake ad-hoc projects and other activities

About you

  • excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with a wide and diverse range of people

  • the ability to work autonomously

  • demonstrated ability to make sound and practical judgement when dealing with clients, contractors and staff members so as to avoid delays with maintenance and rectification works, and to meet expected deadlines thereby ensuring client satisfaction

  • excellent organisational skills with experience in the provision of administrative support

  • qualifications or experience in education (primary/secondary and/or tertiary)
