  • Starting salary: $96,696 per annum (plus 17% superannuation)


About the Role

Reporting to the Portfolio Manager: Research and Enterprise,  you will provide a broad range of high level project and operational functions related to the Office of the Deputy Vice Chancellor: Research and Enterprise (DVC:RE). You will establish strong networks and working relationships with key staff in the Portfolio and University to support the work of the Portfolio.

Core Responsibilities 

  • Prepare submissions, presentations, briefings, discussion papers and reports on behalf of the Deputy Vice Chancellor: Research and Enterprise (DVC:RE) Office and Portfolio in response to a range of requests from internal and external offices/agencies
  • Provide high level support to the DVC:RE and, Portfolio Manager in the delivery of strategic initiatives by developing and documenting evidence-based implementable plans
  • Coordinate and track internal and external business flowing through the Office of the DVC:RE, including assignment of tasks to appropriate officers, in regular liaison with the Portfolio Manager
  • Under broad direction from the Portfolio Manager, develop and review papers from the DVC:RE Office for ELT and other University Committees of Academic Board and Council
  • Coordinate, edit and review papers and prepare the agenda for Research Leadership Committee meetings and provide executive support
  • Provide support to the DVC:RE and Portfolio Manager through researching initiatives, trends, issues and practices at both the local and national level

Essential Skills and Experience 
  • Tertiary qualifications in a field relevant to the operations of the Portfolio and experience, or demonstrated equivalent experience, knowledge and skills
  • Demonstrated high level written communication skills, and demonstrated ability to write complex reports, business cases and other documents both for internal and external audiences
  • Highly developed critical thinking, conceptual and analytic skills and experience in undertaking quantitative and qualitative research and analysis
  • Demonstrated experience in using data as a basis for preparing presentations, written reports and recommendations for senior staff
  • Demonstrated ability to undertake complex projects with a high degree of autonomy.
  • Highly developed verbal and written communication skills, including demonstrated experience in working effectively with people at all levels, both internal and external to the organisation
  • Highly developed negotiation skills, and a proven ability to collaborate with others to achieve outcomes
