The Senior Project Officer position is responsible for the project design and construction of medium complexity projects, and works with the Senior Manager, Construction and Project Managers on higher complexity projects, ensuring effective and timely management of external contractors, consultants and University stakeholders for projects in accordance with University Policy and operational objectives

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Develop and provide the necessary documentation and reporting to support the management and coordination of the program and/or project
  • Prepare and monitor project schedules, resources, budgets, cost estimates and provide progress and status reports and manage changes as they arise
  • Coordinate internal resources and third parties and/or vendors to execute projects
  • Measure and review project performance
  • Establish and demonstrate a high level of learning, energy and commitment and maintain personal integrity and make decisions consistent with University values
  • Plan and prioritises work and critical activities appropriately and recognises barriers to achieving outcomes, finds effective ways to deal with them and evaluates progress 
  • Plan and oversee all aspects of the end-to-end project to deliver sustainable outcomes, value within constraints of time, cost and quality
  • Seek to continuously improve and apply critical learnings from projects and initiatives across the University
  • Seek feedback on improvement opportunities from a diverse range of key stakeholders and implement change through appropriate channels and overcomes obstacles to change
  • Consult a diverse range of stakeholders and experts, not immediately involved, to gain a broader and deeper understanding of a specific issue
  • Draw on a diverse range of people, groups and resources to identify new or improved opportunities, processes and ways of doing things to enhance organisational strategy

To be successful, you’ll have:

  • A Degree with subsequent relevant experience; or
  • Extensive experience and specialist knowledge or broad knowledge in technical or administrative fields
  • An equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.(Building, Architecture or Project Management)
  • Experience in the commercial / institutional construction industry
  • Experience coordinating external contractors and consultants to achieve objectives
  • Experience in organising the design and construction of varied works
  • Experience in recognising and critically analysing client / user requirements
  • Knowledge of the building industry including occupational health and safety guidelines in respect of construction practices
  • Ability to manage project specific finances and work within a budget
  • Experience Microsoft Project and understanding of commonly used construction contracts and accepted administration practices
  • Working knowledge of the BCA and DDA (desirable)
  • Direct experience in the tertiary education sector (desirable)
