About This Opportunity 

The Senior Project Officer CoralWatch will be assisting with the daily project management for CoralWatch, including administrative, finance, marketing, event coordination, and liaising with CoralWatch users to monitor the health of coral reefs worldwide.

Key responsibilities will include: 

  • Coordinating aspects of the project-delivery cycle, including planning, delivery, monitoring, and evaluation to support the success of the project. Providing project and administrative support, including monitoring and reporting on project plans, milestones and deliverables

  • Coordinating aspects of the project budget

  • Assist with grant writing

  • Providing a range of administrative services, including coordinating activities and engagements

  • Communicating information accurately to diverse stakeholders using a range of mediums

  • Develop and manage overall CoralWatch social media content and communication strategy including regular updates of the CoralWatch website

  • Analyse data from CoralWatch global bleaching database, report on key project and study findings and communicate to project participants

  • Support users of the CoralWatch system

  • Collaborate with current CoralWatch project partners and connect with new partners and complementary reef monitoring and education programs

  • Assist with workshops, community events and the promotion, production and distribution of CoralWatch materials (including Reef Monitoring kits, education materials and reef education packages)

This is a part-time (50%), fixed-term position until October 2025, with potential renewal pending funding.

At HEW level 6, the full-time equivalent base salary will be in the range $88,099.39 - $94,512.08, plus a generous super allowance of up to 17%. The total FTE package will be up to $103,076.28 - $110,579.13 annually. As this role is covered by an Enterprise Agreement, you will also receive regular remuneration increases – at least once a year.


About You

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Science (Marine Biology or equivalent) with relevant experience or equivalent experience and/or equivalent education/training

  • Demonstrated experience in providing project coordination and/or administrative support

  • Demonstrated knowledge of data analysis

  • Experience in social media and marketing

  • Excellent time management skills, including the ability to balance competing priorities within tight timeframes

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of stakeholders

  • Advanced written and oral communication skills

  • Experience using Adobe creative suite and Word press would be advantageous, or a proven ability to quickly adapt to new project management software
