  • Full-time (1.0 FTE), continuing position
  • Commencement Salary: $123,186 per annum (plus 17% superannuation)


About the Role 

You will lead, coordinate, and execute key strategic University wide projects and initiatives coordinated by the Office of the Vice Chancellor. During 2022 – 2023 a significant focus for this role will be management of a multi-million dollar investment program in renewal of selected University academic programs.

You will be undertaking responsibilities that are both strategic and operational in nature, working with a diverse group of stakeholders, including the University executive leadership group, to enable the delivery of projects which align with the University’s strategic objectives. Using your high level of skill\s and experience, you will also act as a point of expertise and guidance for other Project Managers across the University.
  
The Office of the Vice Chancellor  
 
The Office of the Vice Chancellor provides the Vice Chancellor with a wide range of executive advice and administrative support to enable the effective and efficient leadership of the University and delivery of the University’s strategic plan, Enterprise25. The Office is led by the Chief of Staff.  
 
Activities include administration of a complex executive environment as well as university wide project management of identified major initiatives, policy development, liaison with the Executive Group, and government agencies, and oversight of the University’s governance, regulatory and assurance frameworks.

Core Responsibilities

  • Lead university wide strategic projects, including scoping, preparing business cases, and using project management methodologies to ensure successful delivery
  • Advise, coach and mentor University project managers in the management and execution of major strategic projects
  • Facilitate and lead workshops, forums and consultative meetings to scope, define and progress significant projects
  • Develop and implement change management plans associated with the realisation of strategic projects
  • Prepare high quality submissions, status and progress reports, reviews and evaluations and communicate these to stakeholders and senior leaders
  • Provide high level executive support to committees, including the preparation of agenda papers, minutes, and actions
 
Essential Skills and Experience

  • Tertiary qualifications in project development and management or equivalent previous substantial work experience
  • Expert project management skills with concurrent projects in a complex environment comparable to higher education
  • High level communication, negotiation, presentation and facilitation skills
  • Strategic acumen and understanding of business needs, political context, and application of quantitative and qualitative analytics 
  • High-level experience in preparation of executive and financial reporting, costing business cases, and developing project budgets
  • Interpersonal and leadership ability to build stakeholder relationships, coach and mentor contributors, and drive cohesive cross-functional teams to achieve strategic outcomes
