The Research and Prototype Foundry is the University’s core research facility offering instruments and expertise for researchers to transform their ideas for devices and structures at the micro- and nano-scale into reality by providing them access to fabrication expertise, processes, and equipment.

This is a unique opportunity to join the Research Prototype Foundry as a Senior Process Engineer. Within this key position you will manage the highly specialised packaging capabilities for the RPF and utilise your experience to design experiment protocols to meet the needs of researchers and other users of the facility. The Senior Process Engineer will supervise other junior technical staff and will provide strategic support and advice to the Managers and Director with regard to packaging capability.  

Reporting to the Facilities and Program Manager, Research Prototype Foundry your key responsibilities will be to:

  • collaborate with researchers, academic and professional staff, providing effective leadership and management guidance and support to the staff in the facility
  • provide expert advice, sound technical research support, and assistance to researchers and other technical staff working in the RPF
  • manage and supervise the Device Packaging capability in the RPF
  • ensure the facility is compliant with Workplace Health and Safety requirements
  • oversee the preparation of reporting and documentation for RPF packaging capability

About you

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/ Science or relative working experience in a related field
  • advanced analytical, problem solving and time management skills
  • demonstrated ability to ascertain research trends, methodological developments and the needs of researchers
  • excellent planning and project management skills to successfully coordinate projects to completion
  • adept in managing, supervising and mentoring staff
  • advanced expertise in the application of 2.5D, 3D-IC, fan-out wafer-level packaging, and system-in-package, through-silicon vias, and interposers to micro and nanofabrication.
