About This Opportunity 

This role is crucial for assessing and enhancing the quality of teaching, learning, and the student experience at the University, aligning with UQ’s Strategic Plan. The Senior Data Analyst, Evaluations oversees the entire process of SECaT and SETutor surveys, from preparation to administration and troubleshooting of the evaluation management system. Additionally, the role involves analysing evaluation data alongside student demographic and outcomes data to generate comprehensive reports aimed at improving teaching, learning, and the overall student experience at the University.

Key responsibilities will include: 

  • Lead the collection and analysis of student evaluation data aligned with UQ's strategic goals, collaborating with senior management.

  • Manage course and teaching evaluation activities, focusing on SECaT and SETutor surveys, and other key initiatives.

  • Interpret and manipulate datasets using advanced statistical methods to visualize student evaluation results effectively.

  • Utilize internal data to develop data-driven solutions and insights for enhancing the student experience and improving teaching quality.

  • Assist in scripting and analysing data for reporting to the University and broader research projects.

  • Provide input to improve business processes and strategic priorities supporting quality assurance and student experience initiatives at ITaLI and UQ, and actively contribute to team activities.

  • Additional duties as required, consistent with the classification level of this position.


About You  

Essential

  • Postgraduate qualification or significant progress towards one in a relevant academic discipline such as computing, statistics, or educational psychology.

  • Extensive experience in analysing large datasets, with expertise in survey methodologies, educational economics, or institutional research.

  • Proficiency in data analysis and visualization tools like Jupyter Notebook, Business Objects, and PowerBI, along with programming languages such as Python, R, and SPSS.

  • Strong background in ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes and data integration, utilizing data engineering and integration tools effectively.

Desirable

  • Previous experience with survey software management systems or big data processing using AWS or Microsoft Azure is advantageous.

  • Experience in the higher education sector is preferred.

  • Ability to innovate and adapt in developing quality assurance and evaluation instruments.

You must have unrestricted work rights in Australia for the duration of this appointment and may be required to complete background checks including, criminal history and education checks.
